In 2009 we received a NSF grant to integration College Bound with our Urban Ecology Program. This has enabled us to offer STEM experiences from September to May on Saturdays and to expand our program to 50 students per year. As such this is a relatively new program but continues to build upon our other successful programs.

Students working on a project at Boston College
The Lynch School of Education and Urban Ecology Institute has developed an effective college bound Technology-enhanced urban ecology field studies program designed to meet one of the nation’s most pressing needs, namely enhancing and retaining STEM talent. To that end we have developed a pathway for inner-city students to enter college with a focus in a STEM area by learning how to use cutting edge geospatial and computer modeling software to investigate pressing urban ecological problems and take action using social and environmental justice lenses.
